Directions

  1. Cook ground beef over medium high heat in skillet. Remove from heat. Drain fat.
  2. Prepare the dough by mixing matzo meal, semolina, water, and salt. Wet hands and shape into walnut-sized pieces.
  3. Roll out dough into a small circle and fill with 1 tablespoon of meat.
  4. Seal the dough with water. Continue until all the dough and meat is used.
  5. In a large soup pot, heat a small amount of oil and fry garlic until golden over medium heat, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the scallions and Swiss chard. Mix well. Cook about 10 minutes.
  7. Add water and cover. Continue to cook until boiling. Add lemon juice if using.
  8. Add stuffed dough to soup and cook 15 more minutes. Serve hot.
