Delicious Oven French Fries
Baking french fries is a healthier alternative to deep frying. Enjoy these fries with a sauce of your choice.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch slices
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice, ground
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Directions
- Place potato strips into a bowl of ice water, cover, and chill for 1 hour or longer. This will removes some of the potato starch and help them become crispy.
- Remove potatoes and dry strips thoroughly.
- Place garlic powder, onion powder, salt, white pepper, allspice and pepper flakes in plastic bag.
- Toss potatoes in spice mixture.
- Add oil to bag and toss to coat.
- Place potatoes in nonstick shallow baking pan.
- Cover with aluminum foil and place in 475° F oven for 15 minutes.
- Remove foil and continue baking uncovered for additional 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Turn fries occasionally to brown on all sides.
Recipe Tips
Use sweet potatoes in place of russet potatoes for added vitamins and minerals, but there's no need to pre-soak them.
