Fruity Homemade Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a great breakfast as it is a whole grain rich in nutrients. Adding fruit for sweetness instead of sugar can help you to manage blood sugar and adds extra fiber to your meal.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Put the water in the saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in oatmeal, blueberries or apples, and cinnamon.
  3. Turn heat to low. Cook 5 minutes, stirring often.
  4. MICROWAVE: Add all ingredients to a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 2 minutes. Stir and cook for another 30 seconds, making sure it doesn't boil over. Stir, and continue cooking in 30 second increments until desired thickness.

Recipe Tips

Use your favorite fruits in place of apples.

Fruit will be very hot, you can add it at the last 30 seconds if you like.

Try different spices like nutmeg or chili powder!
