Turkey Skillet Dinner

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 1/4 pounds turkey, lean, ground
- 2 medium onions, diced
- 1 1/2 cups brown rice, uncooked
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes, no added salt
- 6 ounces green beans, cut into 2" pieces (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Directions
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium high heat.
- Add turkey and onion and sauce 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain fat and return to stove.
- Stir in rice and water, and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes until rice is almost tender.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and return to simmer over low heat, cooking until rice is tender, another 10 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Recipe Tips
Use any type of rice in this recipe. If switching to white rice, decease cooking time to 15 minutes before adding remaining ingredients.
Add diced carrots, diced bell peppers, or chopped mushrooms for added fiber and vegetables.
Use ground chicken, pork, or beef in place of ground turkey.
