Salisbury Steak

Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 can low sodium cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 8-ounce package mushrooms, sliced
- 1 1/2 cup low sodium beef, turkey, or chicken broth
- 1/2 cup gravy
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine beef, 1/4 cup soup, breadcrumbs, egg, and onions. Mix completely and shape into 6 oval-shaped patties.
- In a skillet over medium high heat, heat oil and brown patties on both sides. Transfer them to a plate.
- Add 1/2 cup broth to the pan and scrape up any bits. Add mushrooms and saute them until almost cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the rest of the broth, gravy, and soup.
- Return the patties to the pan and cover with some of the sauce. Cover the pan and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Recipe Tips
If you don't have leftover gravy, use one packet of dry gravy and increase the broth by 1/2 cup.
