Chunky Apple Sauce
Homemade apple sauce is so easy and fresh! It's a great way to use up old apples, too.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds McIntosh apples (or other firm apples)
- 1/2 cup apple cider
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 each cinnamon stick (or 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
Directions
- Peel the apples and cut into 1-inch pieces. Place in a heavy-duty pot with cider, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil and reduce to a rolling simmer.
- Cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick. Mash the apples using a potato masher to desired consistency.
Recipe Tips
Serve on its own or add a couple scoops to top yogurt, pork chops, or oatmeal.
