What’s in Season: Fall 2019

Fall is certainly here. It is getting chilly and the days are getting shorter. The holidays are just around the corner – so hopefully you’ll be able to balance all of the candy, gravy, and pies with some other fall favorites. Read on for some hearty recipes to use up all of the seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Seasonal fruits and vegetables are often cheaper and tastier than out of season when they need to be transported a longer way. These fruits and vegetables are all in season in Massachusetts during the fall:

Apples Acorn Squash Broccoli
Butternut Squash Cauliflower Cabbage
Carrots Celery Cranberries
Garlic Hubbard Squash Mung Beans
Onions Potatoes Pumpkins

Trying to incorporate more meat-free meals? Try this Quinoa-Stuffed Acorn Squash for a filling vegetarian dish.

Find yourself with brussels sprout that you don’t know how to use? Try BBQ Salmon and Brussels Bake for a brussels recipe that even picky eaters will try.

Here are a few of our other favorite fall recipes: Cranberry Sweet Potato Bake, Roasted Squash SeedsApple and Cabbage Salad, and One Pot Chicken and Rice with Carrots.
