Spanish Rice Bake

Ingredients
- 1 pound 85% lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 15-ounce can tomatoes, diced, undrained
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup long-grain rice, uncooked
- 1/2 cup chili sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat and return to pot.
- Reduce heat to low and add onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, water, rice, chile sauce, cumin, Worcestershire sauce and ground black pepper.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, then transfer to a 2-quart casserole dish. Press down firmly and sprinkle with the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
